Looking Back: A year in review

As we approach the end of what has been a crazy year, we would like add a ‘bonus’ blog-post, if you will, and take this time to look at some of our top moments from Virtual Reality in 2016.

What do you think? Do you agree with some of our top moments, or would you have added something else? We would love to hear your thoughts!

THIS YEAR, AT EVARA VR

2016 saw the birth of Evara VR! We hit the ground running, and accomplished a lot. Here’s a peek at the highlights of our 2016.

1. First and foremost, we launched all of our social media accounts.

We are very active all across the board, and would love to connect on our of our accounts!

Especiall our Youtube page. Every week we post weekly videos there, answering VR-related questions! Check out one of our videos below, and please subscribe!

Give us a ‘like’ a ‘follow’, ‘subscribe’, and say Hello! We’d love to hear from you.

2. This year saw the release of our first VR app onto Steam, called Remodel 3D

Even better, Evara was featured on the front page of Viveport when it was released!

3. Last but not least, we created and uploaded our very first app!

You can take a peek at it on your Google Cardboard, or take a 360-tour by click the link, below!

TOP 3 VR HARDWARE RELEASES OF 2016

Here are some of our favorite Virtual Reality hardware releases from 2016!

1. In April, the HTC Vive was released.

You can read the review, here. While the HTC Vive is still nowhere near perfect, since it’s release.

There have been rumors of an updated version of the HTC Vive, as well as the release of a pricey upgrade kit to give the Vive wireless capabilities.

One thing is certain, people have started taking corners: Oculus users, vs HTC Vive users. Do you agree that one system is better than another? We personally use the Vive in our office, so we’re a bit biased, but we would love to hear your thoughts!

If you have yet to create your own opinion or are interested in learning the differences between the new systems, you can check out this article, it’s very informative.

2. Just this month, we saw the release of the brand new Oculus Touch.

The controllers have widely been praised as some of the best controllers in VR. While we have yet had the chance to give them a test-run, we look forward to trying them in the future!

You can check out the Verge’s review video on the new touch controllers, below.

3. Not to be outdone, 2016 also saw the release of the much anticipated Google Day Dream headset.

Arriving in November 2016, the Day Dream may be more aesthetically pleasing to consumers compared to other headsets, but it is not quite ready for the mainstream consumer. Currently, the system is compatible with just a small list of mobile phones. You can see if your phone is DayDream ready, by clicking here.

Let’s hope that we will see more mobile phones ready for the DayDream in 2017, as it truly does have potential to be one of the top mobile VR headsets out there.

TOP 3 VR SOFTWARE RELEASES OF 2016

2016 was not just a good year for Virtual Reality Hardware releases, but also software releases. Check out some of our favorite moments, below.

1. In 2016 we saw the opening of the VR Section section on Steam.

Finally, a place for Oculus and HTC Vive games to be found, online!

2. According to Road to VR, the Valve’s Only VR Title, ‘The Lab’, is the Highest Rated Game on All of Steam.

You can check out T he Lab for yourself, here on steam.

Additionally, you can view some of the demos, below.

3. And finally, we saw the release of Google Earth in VR, in November.

Essentially, using the HTC Vive and Google Earth, you can now fly around the world using virtual reality.

The Verge wrote a pretty excellent review on Google Earth, which you can read here

VR FOR FUN: TOP 3 CLEVER, FUNNY, & AND WITTY MOMENTS OF VR IN 2016

Fair warning! This video is Not Safe For Work!
