TOP 3 VR HARDWARE RELEASES OF 2016
Here are some of our favorite Virtual Reality hardware releases from 2016!
1. In April, the HTC Vive was released.
You can read the review, here. While the HTC Vive is still nowhere near perfect, since it’s release.
There have been rumors of an updated version of the HTC Vive, as well as the release of a pricey upgrade kit to give the Vive wireless capabilities.
One thing is certain, people have started taking corners: Oculus users, vs HTC Vive users. Do you agree that one system is better than another? We personally use the Vive in our office, so we’re a bit biased, but we would love to hear your thoughts!
If you have yet to create your own opinion or are interested in learning the differences between the new systems, you can check out this article, it’s very informative.
2. Just this month, we saw the release of the brand new Oculus Touch.
The controllers have widely been praised as some of the best controllers in VR. While we have yet had the chance to give them a test-run, we look forward to trying them in the future!
You can check out the Verge’s review video on the new touch controllers, below.
3. Not to be outdone, 2016 also saw the release of the much anticipated Google Day Dream headset.
Arriving in November 2016, the Day Dream may be more aesthetically pleasing to consumers compared to other headsets, but it is not quite ready for the mainstream consumer. Currently, the system is compatible with just a small list of mobile phones. You can see if your phone is DayDream ready, by clicking here.
Let’s hope that we will see more mobile phones ready for the DayDream in 2017, as it truly does have potential to be one of the top mobile VR headsets out there.
